our population is pretty small, just over 30 million, so there really aren't the same amount of cities and stuff, even though the land mass area is pretty huge.  i drove across canada and it was amazing.  it takes about a week

I could tell you quite a bit about the UK, I have pretty much worked in every county of England, Scotland and Wales (and Barcelona).

Tis a beautiful country with great people

The downside is that government after government have totally ignored the wishes of the people and gone softer and softer on crime and criminals, so there now exists an underclass of vile people who dont care about peoples lives, liberties or feelings...an absolute mass of evil people who are above the law.  They go to court laughing because they know nothing much will happen to them, and even if they do somehow get sent to gaol, they will have it nice and cushty with people falling all over themselves to look after them.

Meanwhile, I read of one story where the daughter of a murder victim had to clean up her fathers blood (which was splattered from floor to ceiling he was so badly battered) because nobody gave a flying frig about her, yet they fell over themselves to 'understand' the poor murderer.

The country is a great country, the people are a great people, but as usual we are lions led by donkeys and I just don't feel safe here any more.

Those are good points Tony and very valid especially when you have kids to bring up.

mississauga is okay i think, i haven't actually been there, but i know that it is bascially a suburb of and part of greater toronto (just east of toronto on lake ontario), but not as snobby as toronto.  you likely would live in the outskirts of town anyway where there a lot of nice little towns, as i think most people commute in to mississauga and toronto.  that would be so cool if you could get a transfer  again, there is a lot of places that you can easily travel to from there, including niagara falls, etc.

Actually, I do rather like the look of one of the tri-cities (I think they are called)...Kitchener, which is only an hour away from Mississauga, and my line of work doesn't have me in the office much anyway, can go years without ever having to go there, and an hour commute would be fine anyway.

Kitchener does look ok for families so it might be a go-er
