Vaughan hits ton on Test return

Vaughan hits ton on Test return

England captain Michael Vaughan scored a century on his return to the Test team after 18 months out through injury.

The Yorkshireman scored 103 at Headingley as England made 366 for five on the first day of the second Test against the West Indies, with Kevin Pietersen 130 not out at the close.

It was Vaughan's first Test since December 2005 after a string of injuries and the 32-year-old admitted he had been spurred on by some of the negative comments surrounding his recall after such a long absence.

He said: 'I knew I was under pressure and that's why I was really pleased. It was a big challenge to go out and play as well as I did.

'I was very nervous this morning wondering if I could still play at this level. It has been a long way.

'It was very special to go out and score some runs. I always had a real fight to get back. I worked very hard and maybe this was just meant to be.'

There's only 2 players on one team out at a time isn't there?

And the other teams got loads around the place standing and doing nothing.

that is how i see it , you could argue why do you need numbers in footie , but at the very least it helps ref to book the right players , but as far as iam aware , cricket players dont get booked or sent off do they?

Might be for Stats... Just to make it easier to identify em.

You may well laugh mate... But its vital need to know knowledge to the average cricket fan.

The Leeds United defence came top of the 'Most Minutes Spent Scratching Head' leaderboard... They dont usually include footballers, but Leeds' total was so impressive they couldn't resist.

i think a cricket match is just one huge outsood pub if peeps are honest , they go there to take in the sun and get shit faced , anfd what happens on the park dunt matter

Yep...

I went to a Yorkshire match, and had no idea what the score ended up. Came home completely totalled though

I did hear we lost a few days later... So when we were singing and cheering and the rest of the crowd were looking at us gone out, or ready to kill... that was probably why.

Live and learn hey... lol
Woody

yup it must be pretty scary having a load of wrinklies on your case lol
