Tate slams 'ridiculous' Leeds

Swansea defender Alan Tate believes it is time Leeds accepted they are a League One club as their 'embarrassing' points appeal drags on.

The Swans top the table and enjoy an insurmountable lead over second-placed Carlisle, but Roberto Martinez's men will not be awarded the League One trophy at the end of their final home game of the season - against Leyton Orient on Saturday - because they could still be overhauled by Leeds.

The Elland Road club were docked 15 points at the start of the season as they were adjudged to have breached Football League rules when going into administration, but Gary McAllister's side are appealing against the punishment and could still catch Swansea.

On Wednesday it emerged Leeds may have blown their chances of winning their appeal following claims club officials had broken Football Association rules, but Swansea vice-captain Tate has still blasted the on-going saga as 'ridiculous'.

Ridiculous

"Leeds are trying to be the big club they were a few years ago," Tate said in the Daily Express.

"They may be a big club, but must realise they are in League One. It's ridiculous this is dragging on and if I was a Leeds fan I'd be embarrassed.

"I'm surprised they have even been allowed to appeal. They should have been fined and told that was that.

"It should have been put to bed at the start of the season."

Somehow,i don't think he would have felt this way if it had been Swansea in our predicament.

We were deducted points illegally as all Leeds fans know and we are only wanting back what the club have played for and rightly earned. We are not asking for anything that isn't rightly ours.
