SwimmingThere is going to be a real battle for supremecy in the Olympic Games between Australia and USA, our girls will obviously wipe the floor with the yanks, but I suspect Phelps might swing the total medal count between the two countries in america's favor.
In the Olympic trials in Australia, our girls have broken 4 world records already, and some of the new youngsters are incredibly fast, last night (wednesday) Cate Campbell,15 years old, beat Libby Trickett (Lenton) in the semi-final of the 100 metre sprint,(the second time in a couple of weeks),and Emily Seebohm,15 years old, broke the world record for the 50 metre backstroke only to loose it next day to Sophie Edington, whilst Stephie Rice broke both world records for the womens 400,and 200 individual medley's.......Eamon Sullivan was .02 of a second from the world record in the mens 100 metre freestyle,(Alain Bernard of France made this record only this week,so it should be a battle royal in Beijing in August,( that is one gold that Phelpsy wont win.)
Methinks some countries,(who shall remain nameless) will start complaining that Australia are putting hidden motors in their swimsuits.
PS I understand these suits are worth around $600 australian each,so I wouldn't be surprised if some of the poorer countries object.
