Inspirational fundraiser and terminal cancer sufferer Jane Tomlinson has finished her nine-week, 3,700-mile Ride Across America, six years after being told she had six months left to live.
The mother of three cycled into New York's Battery Park and into the arms of her waiting husband Mike and young son Steven.
An emotional Mrs Tomlinson said: "I'm just relieved it's over."
She has faced repeated attacks by dogs, strong winds and temperatures of more than 100F as she cycled from San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge in what is thought to be the greatest endurance feat yet attempted by someone with terminal cancer.
Just two days ago her supporters considered calling off the rest of the ride as the 42-year-old's condition worsened and it looked like she would have to be taken to hospital.
On finishing the ride, she admitted: "I thought it was going to be a bit of an adventure but it turned out to be a bit of an ordeal. It was very difficult. But it's just good to be here.
"We've done the job we set out to do and now I just hope we raise the funds we wanted. It's a huge relief."
She said her main plan now was to spend some proper time with her family.
"I want to put the emphasis back on us as the Tomlinsons together," she said.
Since being diagnosed with advanced metastatic breast cancer, Mrs Tomlinson has raised more than £1.25 million for a series of charities which help cancer patients and children
If only our teams showed half as much guts and spirit as this lady

Makes me feel so humble and insignificant. After watching my sister in law go through her breast cancer over this last year makes me see how the human spirit can raise itself higher than anything to overcome even the most frightening of experiences.
sharon, my sis in law, has had a mastectomy, chemo, radiation and feelings I could never ever imagine. I allways thought she was a bit of a girly, but she has shown me her strength as a human being to be stronger than anything I have ever done.
I only mention this cos I understand some of the feelings that Jane must have, and her family.
Well done Jane you deserve the highest award this country and people can offer for your efforts..
