death penalty in uk right or wrong?as police officers, how do you feel about the death penalty being introduced in the uk, and if you disagree with it, what does britain have to do about the rising crime?

I'm not a police officer but why should we the taxpayers pay taxes to keep scum like huntly, sutcliffe et al alive

i think we should have the death penalty for some cases
this country is way to soft

Anyone in gaol never committed a crime against an innocent.
Anyone dead never murdered again.
'They' say the death penalty isn't a deterrent. This is a false statistic, as it is a statistic that by its very nature cannot be collected and analysed...who would ever go to a police station and say 'excuse me, I would have killed someone today were it not for the death penalty'.
Time it got brought back in, along with the birch. The cane never did anyone any harm neither.
Amazing how since we in this country got rid of all these things, the streets have become an absolute nightmare. It is now officially worse in modern day Britain than it was in the dark ages!

Bring back the cane, aye
Bring back the birch, aye
The Death Penalty, No
The British Justice System is corrupt and a total ass!
Get todays prisoners to build the jails of tomorrow,
chain gangs, aye.
And a 20 year sentence should mean 20 years inside, not 7 with good behaviour and out on parole after 3 !!!
And rights for prisoners, bollix
They lost all their rights on conviction!

well, im not a police officer either and i dont know about the uk, but i dont believe in the death penalty. why is it okay for the state to kill someone? in my opinion by doing that we are just lowering ourselves (collectively) to the lowest of killers.

You have obviously never experienced any form of military training.
The British Army does not churn out 'punks', they churn out well disciplined, decent, intelligent members of society.
I don't know about now, but when I was in the army, they didn't let you out until you could prove you had a job to go to.

Spot on!
Not only the cost of keeping them alive, but also to stop them repeating their crimes once they get out. Either by escape or by idiots giving them parole, so many of them reoffend with hours...
If someone reoffends after being granted parole, whoever granted the parole should serve a minimum one year sentence themselves.
