Kylie cancer ordeal 'not over yet'
(Sunday July 16, 2006 07:14 AM)
Kylie Minogue says her battle with breast cancer is not over yet.
The 38-year-old pop singer is still undergoing treatment - but says the ordeal has made her embrace life with both hands.
She tells Cat Deeley in an interview for Sky One: "I've been through something that, as anyone who has been through it knows or anyone who is a friend of someone knows, it's no picnic.
"And I'm still going through it. It's not like; 'hey, it's all over'."
But she said coming through the worst had given her a new outlook on life.
"Having had cancer, one important thing to know is you are still the same person at the end, you are the same person during it.
"You're stripped down, you're kind of down near zero.
"But still it seems that most people come out at the other end feeling more like themselves than ever before," she said.
"You're more, 'Put diamonds on - I'm not going to wait, wear the diamonds.' And 'Have that drink - I will have a glass of wine, thank you.'
"I just want to do everything, I really do. I honestly don't want to sound soppy or too cliched, but that's the way it is. It's nice to take a walk and it's nice to see friends. I just can't help but see things differently."
I wish her well , with her brave fight against this god awful illness.

I wish her the very best, and she deserves it. I have just watched my sister in law go through the same thing.
Sharon, my sis in law, has had a mastectomy, undergone several, phyically and mentally draining sessions of Chemo and has just finished her intensive radiation therapy. She has, like all breast cancer sufferers, gone through hell.
However, she is a very strong woman and seems to have come through it a stronger person.
Good luck to all sufferers of this terrible terrible disease!!

She's doing very very well, thanks for asking Pat. The news at the moment is that she has now finished all her treatment and the hossi don't need to see her until October now.
I was speaking to her t'other neet and asked "is she over the worst". She explained that when they did the mastectomy they checked her lymph nodes for infection. They found one node with, in their words, very scant cell damage. They explained that to her that they had got ALL infected cells from the breast tissue and surrounding, however 1 or 2 cells in the lymph node was infected. However, these would be taken care of with removal and a blast from both chemo and radiation!
Now that she has finished her treatment the Dr's don't need to see her for 3 months, where she will undergo further tests to see if it has been destroyed or re-occured. They told her that she will always be under the threat and need 6 monthly checkups, even if given the all clear.
She has to stay out of the sun at ALL times from now on, for at least 18months now, due to the radiotherapy.
