Yes and no.

Our first goal was brilliant but then we seem to lose it. Didnt play well at all but the ref didnt help matters either. Every tackle we made was given as a foul and Southend got away with murder.

Was no suprise when they equalised in the second half and after that I had had enough and decided it was gonna be a 1-1 draw, so decided to go back to the car.

The rest is history. Have now got mixed emotions, happy cos we won but annoyed that I missed the three goals

So to be quite honest I feel a bit down at the moment.

Jo, first, I must apologise for not managing to visit you and Dan at half time, I was not expecting anywhere near as many people and went down a bit, but there was no way I was going to find anyone, especially not knowing exactly who you both were.

Now, time to talk about the match.

Crap weather just seemed to be another thing piled up against us as the game got underway, however the 15 minutes delay cheered me up as it clearly signalled a bigger crowd than expected. Unbelievable pre match atmoshere got us all going and I've never heard the Leeds players welcomed with such roars.

It was all crazy, Thommo stuck in a fantastic free kick and the constant singing seemed to be paying off. Leeds continued to press although passing was suspect at times and Southend had their chances, especially the one that hit the bar. I do think Thommo disappointed overall despite his goal as his passing was a let down and he isn't an all effort type.

Half time was a nervous wait, but Elland Road was buzzing, the "Show Bates the Red Card" banner received some support but to be honest not a lot.

The second half led to a period of Southend pressure and it payed off in the form of the equiliser and the pathetic (in terms of numbers and support for their team) Southend fans made their only noise. Yet Leeds fans were resiliant and in a matter of seconds we were back up, supporting our team. Several chances didn't go in and it looked like it was just not to be, but everyone kept singing. Then the inspiring Carole crossed for Flo who buried it and we went mental. I'm ashamed of this but my eyes were watering I was so relieved and happy, then, bang RUI, and we went through it again, the crazy celebrations proved that we all really really love Leeds. The sensational delight was now at it's extreme, Leeds United were back, stuffing the shit we are temporarilily stuck with and then it happened, long ball to Beckford who scored with ease. That was it, unbelievable, amazing, fantastic, brilliant, crazy, rollercoaster ride, and passion are only words which don't come close to summing up how it was.

I have never been at a football match anything like it, or seen Elland Road so happy, so supportive and so noisy. Elland Road is now a fortress, with fans like ours, it is madness to see us lose there.

My player ratings:

Casper - 7 (wasn't overly busy but did well when needed)
Frazer - 6 (his long passes were a disaster although the odd tackle was first class)
Rui - 9 (best defender on the pitch, and chipped in with the goal)
Heath - 7 (decent shift, nowt special)
Hughes - 8 (like this guy, he put in good tackles, worked hard and made nice runs)
Prutton - 7 (disappointing, not as good as I had expected but still can create chances)
Thommo - 6 (goal was all that impressed me)
Westlake - 7 (didn't see enough to make a fir judgement really)
Dougy - 7 (worked hard as usual but nothing special)
Kandol - 8 (won shitloads of headers and with more match practice will get many assists as well as goals)
Beckford - 8 (good player)

Subs:
Carole - 9 (best I've ever seen or heard him play)
Parker - 7 (solid player, did well)
Flo - 7 (great goal, didn't have time for anything else though)

Glad you enjoyed the game Joe, thought about you all day and so pleased your day worked out so well.

Dont worry about not meeting up at half time, as you say with the size of the crowd it would have been like looking for a needle in a haystack and we were quite a few rows up so I doubt you would have been able to see us anyway.

Just glad that you had a safe journey there and back, as it is a good way to come but at least the result made it very worthwhile.

We will have to arrange to meet somewhere outside the ground next time you come (Huddersfield game) in December.

Was a great day, was annoyed the new shirts weren't out but the result made up for that by a long shot.

Singing was brilliant as well as the game, I was in the North East and it seems a few Bates supporters have made it their home and Kop was shouting North East is scum. Great laugh. Then **** off to the football league. But what impressed me most about the fans was the immediate support after we conceded, usually at ER it goes dead when we concede.

Cheers, it's the best game I've ever been to.

I'm now thinking of sneaking another game in if i can manage it, I'm trying to get to Carlisle away but can't see it working out.
