Khan v LimondAmir Khan is determined to learn from his mistakes after Willie Limond sent him stumbling to the canvas for the first time in 13 professional fights.
Khan went on to win the Commonwealth lightweight title by flooring Limond in the seventh, with the Scotsman then failing to emerge for the ninth round on the advice of the doctor.
Limond had a suspected broken jaw but scans on Sunday morning have revealed that it was badly bruised.
However, Khan suggested that his own mistakes might well be a blessing in disguise.
He said: "I know I could have performed better and a few things weren't right, but I will learn from this fight.
"This was a good experience for me. I've learned more from this fight than all my other ones and it's better that it happened the way it did rather than me knocking him out in the first round."
Khan had one final jibe at Limond by expressing his relief that the errors did not occur against a better boxer.
Khan said: "I did get in trouble for keeping my chin up but this is a learning curve and it's better to learn things now and not get caught out by a better opponent.
Khan, although delighted, plans to now thoroughly analyse the fight. He said: "It was a very tough fight and I'm over the moon to get my first major title.
"I will look at the tape and see what I did wrong - it gives me something to work on. I need to keep my hands up and stopping lunging in and pick my shots better."

great fight , but not a great fighter , I think khan will win the European title , but world class???? well im not so sure:-)

i agree he is a over hyped olimpic boxer look at the last big thing to come out ov the olimpics whats his name i forget
