eBay has reinstated the Nochex payment system six days after it banned it without explanation.
Nochex, based in the UK and operating since 1999, claims that it has been given no reason for the ban or its subsequent reprieve by eBay.
Prior to its readmission the firm issued a statement blasting the decision by eBay to exclude a number of payment providers. Last week, eBay blocked Google's new payment system partially on the grounds that it was untested.
Nochex chief executive Martin Greenbank said the ban and readmission had come without any consultation or notification: "I really wonder what the EU Competition Commission will make of this move as they are already mounting an enquiry into competition within the payment cards industry.
"The UK payment industry is demonstrating unprecedented growth and we see Google's entrance into the market as a positive sign, which will in turn, create a competitive market and give greater consumer choice,” he said.
eBay owns the PayPal payment system, which can be used on the site. Last year eBay banned money transfers as a payment method in a bid to reduce fraud on the site.
