Back to topic - it really depends on the style youlike - I read Lord of the rings at 11 (and 12,13, 14 etc.!), but just forget football (you're on holiday remember!) and go for something with a good story, There's plenty about from Dick King-Smith to Jacqueline Wilson (although I think she's a bit girly).
