Sean Gregan today admitted the door had closed on his career at Leeds United after he left Elland Road to join Oldham Athletic.

The experienced defender has moved to Boundary Park on loan until January 1, and the short spell in League One is likely to be followed by a permanent switch away from Leeds during the transfer window.
United boss Dennis Wise revealed last week that Gregan would not be part of his plans, and the 32-year-old accepted Oldham's short-term offer on Wednesday after abandoning hopes of a reprieve at Elland Road. Gregan has made 74 appearances since completing a £500,000 transfer from West Brom in September 2004, and he featured heavily during Leeds' run to the Championship play-off final last season.
His contract at Elland Road is believed to include a performance-related clause which would have seen a further payment made to Albion once the defender passed the 75-game mark.
But Wise insisted that the decision to sideline Gregan had not be based on finance, and the vacancy created by the centre-back's move to Oldham was filled within 24 hours by the arrival of Matt Heath on loan from Coventry yesterday morning.
Gregan's opportunity at Oldham has allowed him to link up with former United midfielder John Sheridan, and he said: "It's nice to feel wanted again.
"I'm looking forward to working under John Sheridan. In fact, he's one of the reasons I decided to come to Oldham.
"All the doors have closed for me at Leeds. Dennis told everyone they had a chance, but I was soon called in and told I was not in his plans. The conversation lasted for about 30 seconds."
