Great win

Leeds manager Dennis Wise was delighted as his side moved out of the Championship bottom three following their 2-1 win at Plymouth.

Eddie Lewis scored the winner, set up the opener and saved one off the line.

Wise said: "Eddie Lewis has done well, he took his goal well and set up the first one for us.

"The result has brought a couple of other teams closer to us whom we can now try to catch.

"Plymouth is always a difficult place to come to - they make it very difficult for you - so to be going from here with three points is pleasing. We got what we deserved."

Leeds took a third-minute lead after a lightning raid down the left.

Robbie Blake pounced to prod home from six yards out after a pinpoint cross from American winger Lewis.

Blake was partnered in attack with recalled Ian Moore, who cracked a volley off the bar in the 12th minute.

Leeds continued to charge forward until they had penalty appeals waved away when home skipper Paul Wotton and Ian Westlake clashed.

That seemed to signal the start of Argyle's resurgence, with veteran top scorer Barry Hayles looking busy.

Hayles flashed a shot from the left wide and was then pushed over by Matt Heath wide on the right.

Tony Capaldi's 40th-minute free-kick was headed home at the far post by Bojan Djordjic, celebrating coming off the transfer list in midweek after scoring in the 1-1 draw at Southend.

Djordjic then bounced a 25-yard dipping shot off the top of the Leeds net as Argyle finished the half in command.

A dour second half was brightened by a brilliant Lewis finish. He beat the offside trap to pounce on Moore's through-ball and slot past stranded Argyle keeper Luke McCormick.

Lewis then cleared a goal-bound Lilian Nalis header off the line as Leeds were forced to soak up late Argyle pressure.

Argyle boss Ian Holloway immediately set his side a fresh target - winning at home to Luton on Tuesday.

He said: ""What you don't want the confidence to drop but we have a massive game now on Tuesday. For me now, we have to win that game.

"We have to look at that (Luton game) and try to win it because I was expecting at least three points today. In fact I would have been disappointed if we had only got one - and now, in the harsh reality of life, I got absolutely zip. It's a bitter pill to swallow.

"We have to earn the right and I would love a home win on Tuesday because that will make it a little bit better. Our home form is not what we wish and we have to do something about it.

"I will have to look at it for Tuesday - maybe I will have to freshen it up because I m certainly not happy with the goals we are conceding.

"But Eddie Lewis' finish with the outside of his left foot ... that's what the Championship is all about. International player, got through, wants goal. That's what it's like: welcome to the Championship."

is this the start of our long term recovery???? me hopes so:-)

One swallow does not a summer make.

But, good performance today (still not taking the chances though): and something perhaps to build on - bring on Burnley!
