Welcome
fleamailman

the goblin once again thanked the humans for their welcome saying "...dear humans, I really feel your site is somewhere that your everyday goblin would just feel at home at..." at which point he was heading back to his "last post" thread again to count his wins agains
Chrissy Canadian

awwww i hope so flea, you're a good addition here, you are a bit loopy, and we like loopy here
silver fox

welcome
fleamailman

the goblin welcomed all those who welcomed him narrowly escaping the sandman's net once more
Josie-lufc

I think the sandman's net is coming after me now
fleamailman

the goblin thanks everyone for the welcomes but the goblin also notices a slight let up in their welcoming fleamailman today so he decided to just welcome all members welcoming him while suggesting that we could now hold a "welcome fleamailman week" with "welcome fleamailman" badges and flags, etc., "...think of it as my way of uplifting the forum spirit then..." mused the goblin again
Chrissy Canadian

the goblin is a true nutter
Bravo

This human likes the goblins musings and thanks the goblin for all his thankings (which is quite ungoblin-like in my experience, but then again all goblins should have a chance and not immediately be regarded as potential eaters of children).

A goblin flag waving day would be a good idea, or perhaps a flag waving decade, thereby ensuring everyones welcomings and thankings were definitely encompassed in all the recititations (if that isnt a word then in should be).
Chrissy Canadian

all we are saying is give goblins a chance...
fleamailman

the goblin reassured the humans that it was not their children but their computers that were at risk, saying "...best avoid the subject of hotkey shortcuts, runbox commands, and cmd stuff..." he paused "...goblins are not to be trusted near computers..."

fleamailman

"...simple Chrissy, on your keyboad is a button that looks like microsoft's flag but don't press it in combination with the other buttons..." said the goblin

the goblin hoped that his introduction to the windows hotkeys would help the humans come to love their computers better, explaining "...the idea is to be able to do various operations, that is normally done by the mouse, by the keyboard instead, for example most people here I imagine already know cut/copy/paste commands with the mouse but control button(Ctrl) plus X or C or V does the same thing..." said the goblin adding "...there are just tons of things to learn about ones computer to make computing easy..."
silver fox

your one hell of a goblin
fleamailman

"...thanks silver fox, once I start to like a site I certainly try to build it up..." said the goblin adding "...btw here's something I found very useful back in my  windows XP days, hope you have XP then, not sure if it works for vista though..."

to make an invisible folder(no text, no icon)

- make a folder on your screen,
(don't care about the name)
- right hand click and choose: properties
- click tab: customise
- click: change icon
(change icon for new folder folder appears)
- look for the padlock icon
- click on the blanc space right of the padlock icon
- click: ok
- click: apply
(folder is invisible but text remains)
- hightlight the text of the folder
- press and hold down the keyborad button: alt
- type with number pad: 255
- release the keyboard button: alt
- click icon to set

[footnote: one is supposed to tick in my computer the folder options to 'hide extensions for known type of file' which I have not done]
[footnote2: if you want to make a second invisible folder in the same place, it is alt+255 then alt+255 again, reads as double blanc folder]

[btw make sure that in chosing the number 255 one presses the numbers on numbers pad to the right and not the numbers about the letters on the keyboard]
fleamailman

"...for others stuff just google my username then..." suggested the goblin
Josie-lufc

Love your Avator Mr Goblin
fleamailman

the goblin thanked jolufc once more saying "...on most sites I use this avator but where there was a size limitation I just used a Roman penguin tux...." explained the goblin but his mind was now deeply disturbed by something called "work" and by what means at his disposal that he could mentally escape from it, to which purpose the UKforum site would come in very useful he imagined
Josie-lufc

Thank goodness its Friday
fleamailman

the goblin, alas, worked over the weekends too saying "...normally Monday is my day off then but I just take any guidework going whenever since one never knows when this party will end..."
lil eva

the goblin's introduction continued "...leaseware is a product that, as the name goes, lasts on condition that the provider allows it, but in order for leaseware to keep its status, it has to have an auto switch off hidden within, it has to remain hidden beyond the average person's understanding, and above all it has have a fairly short life span..." the goblin was building up to his point "...now take a look at windows then, most people think that their old windows98 running computers are useless because they have limit usage on the one hand and an unsupported operating system on the other that is open to abuse from malware makers..." continued the goblin knowing that the next bit refuted that compleatly "...I run a computer with 128ram on linux, it did not cost me anything to download and install the operating system and above all it has no malware because both the base system is locked down tight meaning that one is using only the surface while on it, and because there is nothing hidden so there is nowhere for malware to hide..." but somehow the goblin knew that he had an upstream struggle here to convince people that open source is better than leaseware but it, like never giving up posting to "last post" threads, was great odds he felt
