dangerous dogs

what do you think should all dangerous dogs be banned from family homes

There are certain breeds that are known to suddenly decide to attack children.  They can go for years being a loving pet and suddenly turn into a killer.

I once looked after a neighbours dog (only some gentle, small type of breed) while they went on holiday.  I took it for a walk one day and another dog attacked it, the dog that attacked was only a little terrier.  It was ripping shreds out of it, I booted the thing with all my might again and again and it wouldn't let go at all, I might as well have not been there.

If booting a small dog like that has no effect, imagine what chance you have of pulling a dog like a rottweiler off a kiddie.  You have zero chance whatsoever.

Yet dumbarse people keep these dogs near babies and small children, they say 'oh he wont hurt them, he's gentle as anything'....what they mean is, it hasn't done anything yet because every single one of these past baby killing dogs were 'gentle as anything' too until they actually killed/maimed.

The owners of these baby killing dogs should be charged with manslaughter and locked up.

Yes.. if its classed as a dangerous dog... then why would anyone want to keep one, within a family home.. Ive got two black labs.. no where near classed as a dangerous dog... but i will never trust them 100%.. in fact.. the oldest one.. use to get over excited when the girls played on a slide.. she even nipped there legs.. breaking the skin!! i was tempted at the time to have her dealt with!!!

Kate my youngest.. was attacked by a family dog.. scarring her face.. my uncle decided there and then to have the dog put down..

Bring back dog licenses for a start - and destroy those that aren't properly kept under control - harsh on the dogs, but I am tired of reading about people especially very young ones being maimed and killed.  Maybe put the owner  of the attacking dogs in a roomful of wild dogs as punishment for not keeping their bloody animals restrained

i agree, i have a jack russell dog....usually can be a bit snappy but Jack (original eh)....i quite a loving dog....i say it how the dog is brought up....a bit like kids!!!! but when we are out, i always have him on the lead. When he is in the garden.....it is very enclosed.....no children could get in.

My daughter had a Rotty ...she was a softy too...the way she was brought up....and always the dog was on a lead when out and about, and again, her garden was enclosed so no kids could get in.

Look after your pets like you would you kids!!!!

So what is wrong with putting a muzzle on a dog, especially when young children are around.

Cant understand why people dont use these, they are quite cheap and the dog doesnt have to wear it all the while, just when there are children about or when going for a walk.

I hate the idea of having a dog put down and it really annoys me when I think all they needed to do was muzzle the dog before, especially breeds which tend to be classed as dangerous.

It should be made law that ALL dogs wear muzzles when children are around or when going out in public places.

It isnt rocket science
