Car insurance

It's that time of year again, when i have to start getting quotes for my car insurance.
I got the renewal forms and the insurance had gone up quite a bit.I just thought it had gone up like everything else.
I started getting quotes off the net and decided to try my present company.
The renewal was £345-31 and the new quote was £268-03,i saved £77-28
I had no more to do than to cancel the existing one and buy the new one.Why are insurance companies allowed to do this? What about the folk that just renew their policy without checking?

That was a clever thing to do Anne, Im gonna try that next year when mine is up.

Just shows what a rip off insurances are.  You would have thought the more you stayed with a company the less you had to pay.  Mine has gone up £100 this year but thought it was because I accidently bumped someones car while reversing out of a tight spot at work (not much damage done).  My excess is £300 which I though I would had to pay but not heard anything yet and it was over 3 months ago.  Im hoping that the person whose car I bumped has decided there was so little damage that its not worth making a claim.

Got the repairs done from the third smash, thankfully the guilty person admitted liability - having to go through the Motor Insurance Bureau on the second one (the one where the new car was written off in 20 minutes) as there is 3rd party who didn't stop.  Been paid out but silly woman involved is trying to claim whiplash off me even though i saw her leap the mway crash barriers and climb a fence.  This where theres blame theres a claim society is driving prices of insurance up.  Why can't everyone just be bloody honest.  The first accident I didn't even bother claiming - was a german lorry driver who hit me and the car was on its last legs anyway - damage was only cosmetic.

Really makes you mad doesn't it. Someone hit my car earlier this year, ok so my car was ten years old, but it was the most realiable car ever, very tidy, a diesel which was very economical. Although they admitted fully it was their fault, because my car was older, they wrote it off!!! think they gave us about 700, and then we had the hassle of finding another reliable car, which really pissed us off.

Insurance prices are awful. Swinton always quote me for renewal, saying they cant find it cheaper. I then go online and get a quote 40 quid less, ring up Swinton for my no claims confirmation to swap, THEN Swinton MIRACULOUSLY says OH we can better your online quote!!! SO why the feck don't they offer you the cheapest in the first place???? I think we all need to be made aware of this, and haggle for a better price rather than just pay up year after year like we always do without questioning it
