David Haye has pulled out of Thursday's pre-fight press conference with opponent Enzo Maccarinelli after claiming the decision to re-schedule it for earlier in the day will interfere with his sleep pattern.

Haye, who hopes to add Maccarinelli's WBO cruiserweight title to his own WBC and WBA belts at the 02 Arena on Saturday, has been training in Miami ahead of the fight which will take place in the early hours of Sunday morning.

And he claims that after compromising and agreeing to a 2pm main preview press conference, promoter Sports Network's decision to bring it forward to 12.30pm will unfairly upset his body clock.

"I was more than happy to meet the press at 2pm, the time at which the conference was first scheduled last week," said the Londoner.

"We originally requested the press conference for 4pm - so I'd be fully awake and alert - but compromised and accepted doing it at 2pm. However, knowing full well that I don't wake up until gone 2pm - to keep me on US time zones for the time of the first bell - Sports Network went ahead and re-arranged the press conference for midday.

"Given the fact that we are only days from the fight, I do not feel it is realistic to expect me to break my sleep pattern for something that could have been scheduled for any other hour in the day."

Haye added: "I held my own press meeting on Tuesday.

"I met the press at 3.30pm and it all went as planned. The journalists all understood why it had to be at that time, and some even ran close to deadline because of it."
