Billy Sharp

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws is set to hold talks with Scunthorpe striker Billy Sharp this week.

The 21-year-old Sheffield-born striker, yet to sign a new contract at Glanford Park, has a host of clubs queuing up for his signature and has already met with Norwich.

Laws said: "We'll have talks sometime this week, but it still might not happen because Billy wants to speak to all the clubs interested.

"We've been given permission to speak to him and once he knows what's on offer he'll have to make his mind up."

Laws handed lifelong Sheffield United fan Sharp his first-team breakthrough when manager at Scunthorpe after signing him from the Blades for £100,000 in August 2005.

Laws added: "That gives me a little bit of an edge in terms of personal reasons and the way we play, but not when we're talking finances - we just have to try and make sure what we offer is up there with the rest of them."
