Beckford staying put.Jermaine Beckford has been given the chance to earn a place in Dennis Wise's first-team plans after Leeds rejected a loan bid from Tranmere for the striker.
Rovers boss Ronnie Moore approached United hoping to loan the 22-year-old frontman after he returned to Elland Road following a loan spell at Carlisle United
Moore has kept a close eye on Beckford's progress as Wise assesses his ability, and Tranmere may press for his services again with Rovers striker Calvin Zola sidelined through injury.
The Rovers boss told the Yorkshire Post: "I tried for Beckford but they want to have a little look at him, so that one is on hold at the minute. He was on the bench at the weekend so I don't know what the situation will be."
Beckford rejoined the Leeds squad last week and appeared as a 90th-minute substitute during Saturday's 3-0 victory over Colchester.
The striker has made eight substitute appearances in the Championship and one start in the Carling Cup since making the switch from non-league Wealdstone.

Nice that he belives in him

Pretty Shambolic

Seen him play a couple of times and although he'll never score many goals, he's got a lot of ability...
Personally i'd play him midfield.
Good to see Wise giving the youth a chance
