STUART PEARCE has branded Blackburn's David Bentley "a disgrace".

The winger pulled out of England Under-21s Euro 2007 squad claiming he is "tired". U-21s boss Pearce took an angry swipe at Bentley's attitude, accusing him of playing for England "when it suits" - leaving his preparations for Monday's opener against the Czech Republic mired in an row. Pearce will now have to go into the tournament with 22 players, one man down, because of the late no-show.

He blasted: "It's a disgrace. I spoke with David and he said to me on the back of a long season and possible burn-out next season that he would like to pull out of the tournament.

"I tried to talk to him and explain the situation, 'Where does that leave you next summer if you get in the full squad and have a full season, do you say then you would be fatigued for the next season?"'

Pearce feels betrayed because he recalled Bentley to the international fold then recommended him to Steve McClaren when he showed good form.

i agree with PEARCE bentley pulled out because of fatiuge ffs he has played about 45 games this season he does nothing else so how can he be tired
