Chelsea and Manchester United fans will not need visas to get to the Champions League final if they have tickets for the match.

British nationals usually need a visa to enter Russia, but thousands of documents would have to be processed in less than three weeks, so tickets will be allowed in to cut red tape.

Alexei Sorokin, the Russian official coordinating preparations for the match, said: "A fan can come without a visa and enter Russia with a valid ticket.

"It is an unprecedented decision by the Russian government."

The announcement will save supporters around £100 each and it could also cut touting around the match because fans arriving in Moscow without tickets will need visas.
