Chelsea sign £16.2 mil international defender

Jose Bosingwa, the 25 year-old, Congolese-born, Portuguese international full-back, has completed a move to Chelsea from Portuguese champions, FC Porto in a deal worth £16.2 million. Chelsea moved quickly ahead of Manchester United’s reported interest last week. His medical and personal terms were agreed today.

Bosingwa played alongside Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira, and Henrique Hilario at Porto and so should feel at home at Stamford Bridge from day one! Ironically, Bosingwa became the first-team regular right-back at FC Porto following Paulo Ferreira’s move to Chelsea.

While his new team-mates take on the Reds in the Champions League final Bosingwa has already experienced victoy in such a final. He was a substitute in the 2004 Champions League final, in which FC Porto beat Monaco 3-0.
