Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe both netted twice as England opened their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign with an easy 5-0 win over hapless Andorra.

Steve McClaren's men were expected to crush the Old Trafford visitors with ease, and didn't disappoint as both strikers notched braces.

Crouch, Steven Gerrard and Defoe all netted to give England a comfortable 3-0 half-time lead in front of a muted Manchester crowd.

And Defoe and Crouch were on target again after the break to wrap up a convincing victory.

England lined up as expected with Phil Neville replacing injured brother Gary at right-back and Defoe in place of the suspended Wayne Rooney up front.

And it took them just five minutes to open the scoring as Crouch stroked the ball home after good work by Defoe and Ashley Cole.

Eight minutes later Gerrard added the second in emphatic fashion, chesting down Cole's cross at the far post before blasting the ball into the top corner of the Andorra net.

Owen Hargreaves, again impressive in that holding midfield role, struck the post from a free-kick before Defoe added England's third on 38 minutes.

Gerrard curled in a wonderful cross to the near post and Defoe met it on the volley to sweep the ball home.

After the break the tempo slowed noticably, but England still found time to add two more goals to their tally.

Within two minutes of the restart Defoe latched onto Neville's header forward, rounded the goalkeeper and made it 4-0.

And on 66 minutes the rout was complete as Crouch headed home substitute Aaron Lennon's cross

Poor game IMO , I dunno , to me we still didnt show any real passion , all be it our play in general has improved.

I think Lampard again was a big disappointment , what has happend to him?????

well three points in the bag and a few goals in the goals for column, so cant grumble too much
