why when you have to have a small filling at the dentist, do they pump your mouth so full of cocaine that it is numb for 3-4 hours???????? the filling only takes them 15 mins at the most....so why not make it last for just an hour?????

Well my opinion is that they just wanna make you look like a twit so they can have a laff

Your dentist gives cocaine!!!

It must be better than the lidocaine / novacaine I get at my dentist.

A mouthful eh, bet that costs a bit?

Free coke! What you complaining for?

I don't know why it does it actually, because if you put proper coke on your gums, you only loose all feeling in your mouth for a few minutes.

I usually have space gas cos i have a phobia with needles, but they said i could only have that if i went private.....why????????????????

Its because of the way the new NHS Dental Contract works and how the primary care trusts signed up to it. You don't really want me to go into more detail do you?

I've had 2 or 3 fillings with nowt,
must say I was surprised the dentist weren't gonna give me owt!

The reason you don't get your gas Lynn is is simple - cost. The formula to work out UDAs (Units of Dental Activity) is a complex business and like other areas of the health service this increases spend on administration whilst decreasing cost on treatment. For the same reason if you want Dental Hygiene treatment that has to be done private ( a strange decision made by the majority of the West Yorkshire PCTs - you would have thought hygiene+prevention+less dental work). Need I go on is that enough boredom for ya?

Had a biiig filling done this morning.
The filling came out last week and I could only get an appointment for today!
'Do you want me to numb it' says the dentist 'Too fuppin right' thought I.
Even my left ear was numb when I got home.
Glad it's sorted now tho' and my wallet is lighter by £43:60.
