Tom Hudson is literally set to be 'fired' from Coronation Street, according to reports.

The soap star - who plays Jack Duckworth's bad boy grandson Paul Clayton - will reportedly leave the show in a blaze of glory when his character burns down Leanne Battersby's restaurant.

Paul torches failing business Valandros in an insurance scam after former prostitute Leanne bribes him with sexual favours.

Tom told a newspaper: "It's a great storyline - exactly the kind of exit I hoped for."

The 21-year-old actor is excited to be moving on to new projects but hinted he will return to The Street in the future.

He revealed: "I've loved it on Corrie but I've got other things planned.

"Paul's just like his dad Terry and he'll definitely return to Weatherfield to cause more trouble for his grandad."

A Coronation Street insider revealed Paul will be forced to leave the show to escape the police.
