BLACK CATS READY TO TEMPT FREDDY

SUNDERLAND supremo Niall Quinn is making a £1.75million move to snatch Southend's star striker Freddy Eastwood - immediately.

Quinn and boss Roy Keane want the prolific forward to boost their promotion push and they plan to agree a deal to take Eastwood on loan as soon as possible.

The Black Cats can exploit a transfer window loophole, taking Eastwood on an 'emergency' basis but with a guaranteed full-time transfer waiting in January.

Southend kept Eastwood in the last window when several clubs - notably Derby - tried to tempt them to sell, but now a large offer from Quinn and his Irish backers may be enough.
