CURBISHLEY: ASK ME AGAIN NEXT MONTH
By John Skilbeck, PA Sport

Alan Curbishley insists he will not return to management until late October at the earliest - and he wants to work "at the highest level".

The former Charlton manager is holidaying in New Zealand and does not intend to return to the UK for another three weeks.

He has been linked repeatedly with jobs, the latest at Leeds and West Brom after Kevin Blackwell and Bryan Robson left the Coca-Cola Championship clubs.

But having pledged to take a sabbatical when he left Charlton at the end of last season, Curbishley has no intention of changing his immediate plans.

Curbishley, 48, stated: "When I left Charlton in April I stated I wanted a six-month break and anyone who knows me well will know that I did not say this for effect, but genuinely intended for that to be the case.

"When I return to the UK in mid October that period will nearly have elapsed. I understood that this decision might mean that I would miss out on possible offers and opportunities in that period.

"I have remained consistent with my original actions and indeed I know I have missed out on such possible opportunities that have been forthcoming during the last five months to date, not only from clubs at the top level in the UK but also from abroad.

"I feel flattered to have been linked with such clubs and further understand that you cannot dictate when such opportunities may present themselves again.

"However by the end of October I will be back in full circulation and I am prepared to wait for the right opportunity as and when it presents itself.

"Of course, I wish to manage a club at the highest level and I feel completely ready for my next challenge."

Whether that indicates Curbishley would have no interest in managing at Championship level is unclear.

Curbishley was manager at Charlton for 15 years from 1991, initially in partnership with Steve Gritt.

He does say a club at the highest level , me hopes KB can convoice him we are at the highest level in Leeds lol
