Blackwell - took club to the play-offs last season.
LEEDS SACK BLACKWELL

Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell has been sacked by the Elland Road board of directors after three-and-a-half years at the club.
Blackwell, who succeeded Eddie Gray as manager in June 2004 after spending 12 months as coach, had come under increasing pressure from frustrated fans in recent weeks.
The Yorkshire club's 1-0 reverse at Coventry over the weekend was their third successive defeat in the Coca-Cola Championship and saw them slump to their lowest ever league position - second from bottom.
A club statement read: "The board of Leeds United have today terminated the contract of manager Kevin Blackwell.
"The club would like to place on record their thanks to Kevin for the work he has put in over the past three and a half years, the past two and a half of which were as manager.
"No further comment will be made at this time."
Blackwell, former coach to Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock, chose not to comment on the board's decision.
Leeds fans first called for Blackwell's head after the recent home defeat to Wolves and speculation as to his future intensified following subsequent losses to Sunderland and Coventry.
But the timing of his departure will still come as a surprise to many, who felt the pressure had eased slightly on the 47-year-old following last night's 3-1 Carling Cup win over Barnet.
Leeds chairman Ken Bates has remained silent since the pressure first mounted on Blackwell this season, but has moved quickly in a bid to halt the slide.
Former manager Eddie Gray told Sky Sports: "As a football manager you live and die by your results.
"It's unfortunate it's happened, but that's the nature of football.
"Everybody knows that financially in the last couple of seasons things have been difficult for the club.
"I think the chairman Ken Bates has backed the manager very well. If you look at the players that have come to the club since Kevin was manager, he's signed a lot of players.
"A lot of players left the club as well, but I think the chairman has backed the manager for the majority of the players he's wanted.
"Every manager would like a bigger squad, but it's not always possible in football.
"The timing will obviously surprise people but it looks to me like the chairman has made his mind up before the Carling Cup tie.
"I don't think it was anything to do with the game last night, he must have decided before that that he was going to make a change."
Gray does not believe there will be a shortage of applicants to succeed Blackwell, who led Leeds to the play-off final last season.
He continued: "It's a big football club and it's a terrific job, but who knows who the chairman will have in mind?
"Whoever it is will inherit a side that is second-bottom of the table, but there are some good football players at the club."

I'm not jumping on the bandwagon! I thought Blackwell should have gone before the start of last season!!
His tactics then were abysmal, and totally see-through, easy for other managers to read! Another Sven! Yes we are going to have to compensate Blackwell when he goes! Why was he given a 3-yr contract? Before the Play-off final Adi Boothroyd said he knew how Blackwell was going to play, he was like a rabbit caught in the spotlights as he came on the pitch! His tactics and motivation are nowhere near the standard for Leeds United. We need someone with passion and tactical awareness! I'm 45 yrs old and have actually been going for 39 yrs, and it hurts to see Leeds turning into a second rate club! Players and other fans saying get behind the team! That hurts as well. Where will they be in 5 yrs time if we don't win anything? I don't need to be talked down to.
P Bryan, Halifax.
Having been at Coventry on Saturday to hear the "Blackwell Out" chants ring from the rafters, I think it's time we had an overview of the current situation. Should he stay or should he go? Well first question is what has the manager achieved? What has he done to 'turn the club around' as he suggests?
When he came in we were in freefall and in urgent need of rebuilding...Blackwell made the signings, some good, some bad and we just about managed. Job done. As the second season rolled in we were given a little more financial clout, achieve a play-off final berth and fall short to three sides Watford, Reading and Sheff United who together, almost spend less than we did on acquiring new forwards – all of whom failed to even hit a 15-goal target.
Blackwell hasn't turned the club around. He's not brought promotion and we're in a far worse position now than at any other point during his tenure – the fact we have a football club with improved finances is to the credit of Bates, Blackwell can take no kudos for that.
Why people recognise him as the saviour of LUFC over the past two years is utterly beyond me and where it appears he has finally lost the confidence of everyone connected. He simply has to go.
Tommy Wood, Tingley near Wakefield
The yellow shirts were apt for a gutless performance against Coventry. The bookings we collected were totally senseless. When has a referee ever changed a decision?
David Preston.
I think it's time for the 25,000 so-called fans who applied 4 cardiff 2 show their support, even if it's shouting over the famous elland road gates coz the prices r 2 high! Give Blackie a chance, he took the job on when all around were laughing at our club! Leeds until you die? Start showing it!
Come on United fans really get behind the team please. we shouldn't have these 16,000 gates, it's wrong. come on please and give Blackwell support.
James, Leeds.

Not sure Sam with the squad we had then , we should have gone up without the need for playoffs.
