Leeds United are heading into a new era of youth development after bridging the gap between their academy and Kevin Blackwell's first team.

United confirmed the appointment of David Geddis as their new reserve team coach last week, strengthening Blackwell's backroom team with a man whose coaching career has already passed through Middlesbrough, Newcastle United and England's national squad.
The 48-year-old was working as a scout for Sven Goran Eriksson prior to England's elimination from the World Cup, but he was tempted back to club football as United aimed to increase their internal productivity.
The club were without a reserve coach for the whole of last season and Geddis' arrival has completed the link from United's academy to their first-team ranks, one which has produced a host of talented and valuable players in the past.
Geddis said: "I'm under a lot of pressure in this role, and I don't mind saying that. The gap between the academy and the first team is a vital stage, and clubs who want to move forward need stability at every level of football.
"I'm an ambitious person and the attraction for me was the pressure that Leeds United are going to be under to achieve success next season.
"I was a boyhood fan of the club and it's funny how the circle has come all the way round."

This for me is the best news to come put of ER for a very long time , I remember the youth team under eddie , most or all of the players that came through the ranks at ER went on to play at the very highest level for a number of years , I look forward with interest to the new generation of players to come out of ER.

KB on the radio last season mentioned that we played Newcastle at every level from under 8's upwards and won every match. There is obviously a wealth of talent there to be tapped. If this guy can do it and persuade KB to USE it then I think we've got a lot to look forward to!
