A GMTV boss has quit after accidentally sending a text to presenter Lorraine Kelly saying she hated her.

LK Today's editor Benedetta Pinelli clashed with Lorraine while filming in Namibia.

In a bid to let off steam she intended to send an angry text message to her husband.

But instead she sent the message, which read "I hate her", directly to Lorraine.

When she realised what she'd done, she immediately called the UK and offered her resignation.

A show insider said it was a surprising event as Lorraine is such a well-loved host.

But Benedetta, who joined GMTV five months ago as Head of Lifestyle, has already found a new job with a film company.

She said: "I'm leaving a strong show behind and I'm very proud of my team. In fact I'm taking them out for a farewell drink tonight."
