Good luck Anthony - hope Macca was right that you're not good enough though - I think of lads like CAleb Folan and Andy Keogh - who were never given a chance and have done well since leaving - particularly when we persevered with Simon Johnson

Anthony Elding's decision to fight for his place at Leeds rather than move on has given Gary McAllister a bit of a headache.

Leeds and Crewe had agreed a six-figure fee for the 26-year-old striker, and Elding had even agreed personal terms, but then changed his mind and decided to stay at Elland Road and fight for his position in the team.

That left McAllister with a little less in his transfer kitty and an extra wage bill that he hadn't been reckoning on.

The Leeds boss had a meeting with chairman Ken Bates and director of football Gwyn Williams to discuss transfer targets.

Bates said at the time: "Gary is looking to change his squad and we are meeting to agree on what we are doing."
